Paula Lou Spalding's Obituary
Paula Lou Spalding aged 64 of Branch, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids. Paula was born on December 16, 1950 in Big Rapids to Lawrence and Mary (Doney) Mason, and moved to Ludington in 1967 with her parents. She resided in Mason Country until 1977 when she married Roy Smith and they lived in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Paula later married Roland Spalding in 2001, and they moved back to Mason County, residing in Walhalla.
Paula spent the bulk of her working years in customer service, as a cook for restaurants and in food service, or patient care for various businesses in the Mason County area, finally retiring in 2012. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, sewing, crafts and reading, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her husband, friend Sherrie Sipiorski, and her children and their families.
Paula will be lovingly remembered by her husband Roland “Tony” Spalding, her children Tasha Smith, Shawna (R.J.) Smith, and Ryan (Kate) Smith, her grandson Nathaniel (Annastacia) Smith, her great granddaughter Aubriana Smith and soon to be great grandson, her sister Pam Walker, her devoted friend Sherrie Sipiorski, her stepchildren Roland Jr., and Kimberly, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Roy Smith, and her brother-in-law Glenard Walker.
Funeral services will be held for Paula at 11:00 am on Monday, September 21 at Wyman Funeral & Cremation Services – Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville with Rev. Richard Miller of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may meet with her family for a time of visitation on Monday morning from 10:00 am until time of services at the funeral home. Those who wish to make donations in Paula’s memory are asked to consider her family to assist with expenses.
