Peter Elon Babbin's Obituary
OBITUARY:Peter E. “Butch” Babbin, aged 66 of Riverton Township, Scottville, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Mercy General Health Partners in Muskegon. Butch was born on December 13, 1943 in Riverton Township to Peter and Bernice (Squires) Babbin, and graduated from Mason County Central High School with the Class of 1962. On March 1, 1974, he married Ruth DeZwaan in Croton, and they have celebrated 36 years together. Butch was a dairy farmer all his life, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the NFO, the MMPA, the NRA, the Farm Bureau, and was very active with the West Michigan Livestock Council and 4-H. Along with dairy farming, he had Percheron horses, and enjoyed attending horse pull competitions. Butch also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, traveling around the countryside, camping with his family, and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Butch will be greatly missed by his wife Ruth; his children Rebecca (Scott) Tyndall of Custer, Peter (Jolene) Babbin of Hart, Pat (Crystal) Babbin of Pentwater, and Christopher Babbin and his friend Jennifer of Scottville; his beloved grandchildren; his sisters Patsy Strayer of Scottville, and Doris (Bob) Englebrecht of Paradise; his brother John (Kathy) Babbin of Pentwater; several nieces and nephews, and many great friends. Funeral services will be held for Butch at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 23 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville, with Rev. Norman Letsinger officiating. Burial will follow at Center Riverton Cemetery. Friends may meet with his family for a time of visitation on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home.
