When my family and I first moved to Ludington I was just 6. I remember Dick and Dar were some of the first people we met, I remember going over to their house in the country and they were always so kind to us. I still can remember Dick singing I'll fly away and yodeling like no one can! We love and miss you brother here on earth,but know you know in the presence of a king.
It's better to light a virtual candle, than to curse the darkness. Rest in peace Richard. Sincere condolences to family.
Mr. Bettison will always have a special place in my heart. Caring for him through the last few months of his journey to heaven, although difficult to watch, was also beautiful and rewarding. Seeing his smile when I got the pillows just right, sitting with him and sharing stories about our families, being able to control his pain during his last few days. It was wonderful to meet the family he so lovingly talked about. Patients like him is why I became a nurse.
Dick was my neighbor to the North in Hidden Forest for many years. We borrowed items from each other over the years. He and Darlene were so good to me as a widow at the time. Later when Alan and I married, he and Dick became friends also. He was a man of God and will have a great place in Heaven. My prayers go out to the family. Your friends in Christ. Richard was a good neighbor and friend. He loved being outdoors working on his lawn even though confined to a wheelchair. I spent many hours with him in the rehab center that became his home. I helplessly sat with him and watched him suffer breathing problems. It was heartbreaking to watch him not be able to get comfortable in his wheelchair or in his bed. As it says in Hebrews 2:10 Richard's salvation was made perfect through suffering. Rest in peace my dear friend.
