Richard J. Moreschini

Richard J. Moreschini passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at the age of 93, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 22, 1932, the son of Julius and Margaret Moreschini, a proud Italian family. Richard grew up in Ramsay, Michigan, located in the far western corner of the Upper Peninsula alongside his younger sister Lucille Gedda, who resides in Champagne, IL. Following high school, Richard served his country with the United States Army for 2 years. When he returned from service, he attended a trade school program for printing at Western Michigan University. The GI bill was available to make this possible. Soon after he completed the program, he and his lifelong friend Bill Rizzie worked side by side in their joint venture of starting their own printing business in 1959. Custom Service Printers, now in its third generation, remains a thriving printing company to this day. Richard was a man of quiet strength, integrity, discipline and wisdom with a dry sense of humor. He married the love of his life, Marilyn (Betka) Kamp in June of 1970 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muskegon. Richard lovingly called her his “Marzie“. She preceded him in death in July of 2015 following 45 wonderful years together. He inherited and lovingly accepted Marilyn’s four almost grown children. He was a great stepfather and an amazing, devoted husband. Richard was an ambitious and very talented man. He designed and built their dream retirement home in Dublin, MI. Richard was a devout Catholic and a long standing and active member of St. Bernard’s Parish in Irons, MI. After his beloved Marzie passed away, Richard stayed in his home until May of 2023 when he decided he could no longer care for himself and chose to move to Maple Ridge Manor in Manistee. His family is very grateful for the compassionate care he received while a resident and has been in hospice care for the past 8 months. Richard and Marilyn really enjoyed music and dancing to big band music, especially at wedding receptions. They were talented dancers and also enjoyed “happy hour” daily for many, many years. So many friends and family showed up at 4:30pm to enjoy their company and conversation. Their home in Dublin served as a gathering place for all the family year round, especially on Labor Day at St Bernard’s Church festival. Richard’s hobbies included a lot of building projects, chopping and gathering wood, seasonal mushroom picking and lots of traditional sauerkraut making in the fall. In his later years he took up scroll sawing and made many beautiful wooden, finely detailed figurines. When the family was young, they spent many memorable weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day at various campgrounds in the Manistee National Forest, and became a tight knit family unit that had tons of fun together. Richard leaves behind his four grown stepchildren and their spouses Wayne and June Kamp, Greg and Diane Kamp, Stephen and Cynthia Kamp, and Dave and Sally (Kamp) Geyer; 14 grandchildren Angela Rafferty-Mills, Maria Myers, Kari Hibbard, David Geyer Jr, Matthew Geyer, Brian Kamp, Joel Kamp , Laura Lamppa, Stephanie Kroepel , Susie Kamp, Shae Kamp, Evan Kamp, Toni (Kamp)Kostamo, Alexandra ( Kamp) Schommer; 20 great-granchildren; his niece Debbie O’Brien and her husband Dennis, and his nephew Glen Gedda. HIs neighborhood friend, Dick Stapley was longtime “happy hour” attendee and kept an eye on Richard very well! The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Richard at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 24th at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 5734 10 ½ Mile Road, Irons, MI 49644 with visitation starting at 10:00 am until time of Mass. Burial will Honor Guard rites will take place later this spring at Dublin Cemetery where Richard will be laid to rest next to his beloved Marilyn.
