Robert L. Bennett's Obituary
OBITUARY:Mr. Robert “Bob” Bennett, aged 78, of Beautiful Downtown Scottville, passed away on December 27, 2010. He was surrounded by his family at the end of his courageous battle with Parkinson ’s disease. He was born to Laurence and Maud Bennett on September 10, 1932. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Donald. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, “Saint” Ann, his daughters Robin Bennett, Jenny & Phil Gajeski and Mary & Bill Kovalcik. He adored his three grandchildren Dwight, Leslie & Chad Hall. He leaves behind his brothers Victor & Donna Bennett and Albert Bennett, sister-in-law Dee Bennett and several nieces and nephews.Bob served his country in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. On June 4, 1955, he married Ann Dufore whom he met while stationed in Pittsburgh, PA. He and Ann moved their family to the area in the early 1960’s. He was proud to serve as a pharmacist, business man and community leader for many years. He truly enjoyed his involvement and volunteering with many local groups including the Scottville Methodist Men’s Group, Hospice of Michigan, Ludington Jaycee’s, West Michigan Pharmaceutical Association, and the Parkinson’s Support Group. He was recently honored to serve as the Grand Marshall for the 2010 Scottville Harvest Festival.There will be a service to honor and celebrate his life at 11 AM on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Scottville United Methodist Church, with his pastor, Rev. Jack Conklin officiating. His family will meet with friends on Wednesday from 1 to 3 pm, and 7 to 9 pm at Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville.
