Roger Albert Vitucki's Obituary
OBITUARY:Roger A. Vitucki, aged 74 of Scottville, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Roger was born on January 19, 1937 in Grant Township to George and Veronica (Grabowski) Vitucki and graduated from Scottville High School with the class of 1956. In 1962 he married the love of his life Betty in Ludington, and they celebrated 41 years together before Betty preceded him in death in 2003. Roger was also preceded in death by his father George, and his brothers Joey and George Jr. Roger began working for the C & O Railroad right out of high school as a switchman on the car ferries, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a longtime member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Scottville, and loved to spend his time hunting, fishing, working in his garden, and could often be see riding around his property on his lawn mower. Roger will be lovingly remembered by his children Dan (Karen) Vitucki of Scottville, Roger (Kathleen) Vitucki of Ludington, Darlene (Dennis) Doutaz of Edmond, Oklahoma, Judy (Ed) Dalinski of Manistee, and Jean Winters of Skandia, MI, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, his mother Veronica Vitucki of Ludington, his sisters Irene (Jim) Stark and Joan (Brant) Dancz all of Ludington, Dorothy Kaczmarek of Kalamazoo, and Carol (Dave) Bourdage of Fountain, and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Roger at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 10 at the St. Jerome Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Schiller as celebrant. Burial will take place at Brookside Cemetery at a later date. Those who wish to make a memorial contribution may make them to a charity of their choice.
