Ruby Elizabeth Hasbrouck's Obituary
Ruby Elizabeth Hasbrouck, aged 90 of Scottville, MI formerly a longtime resident of Clearfield, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at her home in Scottville. Ruby was born on June 13, 1919 in Ridgeway, Pennsylvania to Elmer and Florence (Marshall) Fiscus, and graduated from Ridgeway High School with the class of 1938. She worked as a Nurse Governess for private homes in New Jersey, and as a Nursery Supervisor at a children’s home. On December 15, 1944, she married Jay L. Hasbrouck in Ridgeway, and they moved to Clearfield in 1954. They have been blessed with 64 years together. Ruby volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Brownie’s leader, served as the president of the P.T. A. She served as a Caseworker Supervisor for the Area Agency on Aging, retiring in 1984, and also delivered meals for the homebound for over 13 years. Ruby was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, were she served on the Pastor Parish Relations committee, as a Trustee, and on the Administrative Board. She also was a member and served as president of the United Methodist Women, taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Choir. Along with her many volunteer activities, Ruby enjoyed tending to her garden, and quilting. She and Jay often wintered in South Padre Island, Texas, and enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Alaska, England, Ireland, Germany and Scotland. Ruby always looked forward to hosting the annual Fiscus and Hasbrouck family reunion for many years. In 2001, Ruby and Jay moved to Scottville, MI near their daughter Susan, spent their winters in Leesburg, Florida, and were members of the Scottville United Methodist Church. She will be greatly missed by her husband Jay, her sons Jay L. (Bea) Hasbrouck Jr. of Amity, PA, and Gary Marshall (Tamara) of Oakland, CA, and her daughter Susan Elizabeth (David) North of Ludington, MI. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jenny, Kevin, Samantha, Matthew, and Jennifer, and her brother James (Alverta) Fiscus of Missouri.
