Ruth Coral VanStrien's Obituary
Ruth Coral VanStrien aged 100 of Grand Rapids entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. Ruth was born on September 2, 1917 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Richard and Katherine (Weeda) Wyman. She recently was able to celebrate her milestone 100th birthday with her family at the Christian Rest Home. On June 7, 1941 Ruth married Peter VanStrien and they celebrated 61 years together before Peter preceded her in death in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Gertrude (Peter) Kuiper, Lenore (Andrew) Cnossan, Catherine (Russell) Beckett, Geraldine (Charles) Pomarius, and Faye (John) VanDam, and her brother Richard (Eleanor) Wyman.
Ruth will be greatly missed by her daughter Pamela and Fred Wicht of Vonore, TN, her grandchildren Mishelle (Gregg) Becker, Kyle (Charlotte) Wicht, and Tiffany (Brandon) Buchholz all of Wyoming, her great-grandchildren Taylor, Bryce, and Brett Becker, Parker Wicht, Zoey and Elsa Buchholz, her brother Lawrence (Marcia) Wyman, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held for Ruth at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 20, at Remembrance Reformed Church in Walker with her pastor, Rev. Todd Schmidt and her dear friend Rev. Vern VanderWerf officiating. Burial will take place at Blythefield Memory Gardens. Friends may meet with her family for a time of visitation on Monday afternoon from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the church. Those who wish to remember Ruth with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Christian Rest Home.
