Shirley June Knutson's Obituary
Shirley June Knutson age 78 of Sparta, longtime resident of the Grand Rapids area, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022. Shirley was born in Grand Rapids on November 24, 1943, the daughter of Roy and Harriet (Short) Thurkettle. She was married to Donald G. Knutson Sr. who preceded her in death in 2020. She was also preceded in death by her son Kurt Knutson in 2020, her daughter-in-law Janie Flint-Knutson in 2019, her parents and her brothers and sisters.
Shirley grew up and lived many years around Grand Rapids before moving north to Scottville in her and Don’s retirement. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved life and found her greatest joy in the presence of her family.
Shirley will be greatly missed by her sons Donald (Judith) Knutson Jr. of Grand Rapids, Craig Knutson of Sparta, and William (Marcia) Knutson of Fountain along with her daughter-in-law Robin Knutson also of Fountain and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at Wyman Funeral & Cremation Services in Scottville with burial to follow at Bachelor Cemetery in Fountain. Those who wish to remember Shirley with a memorial contribution are asked to please consider Faith Hospice.
