Stanley Masiwchuk's Obituary
OBITUARY:Mr. Stanley Masiwchuk age 81 of Free Soil, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon on Sunday, August 8, 2010. Stanley was born August 10, 1928 in Hamtramck, the youngest of five children of George and Anastasia Masiwchuk. He grew up, lived and worked in that part of the state until the early 1970’s. He came to the area for a family funeral and decided to buy a farm and move to Mason County. At various times on the farm he raised dairy cows, pigs, and eventually draft horses. After his move to Mason County, he had worked a few different jobs in addition to farming, including cement work at the pumped storage project. He retired from Great Lakes Castings, where he worked as a shaker in the foundry. Stanley was an antique “wheeler and dealer” and was well known for his outgoing personality. He could truly strike up a conversation with anyone – anywhere. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Tony, Henry and Frank. He is survived by his sons Stanley G. (Dawn) Masiwchuk of Custer and Patrick Masiwchuk of Free Soil; his stepdaughter Deb (Brian) Mullins of Bear Lake; his sister Pauline (Joseph) Banish of Dearborn; nine grandchildren; and two great grandsons, as well as many nieces and nephews.A Celebration of Life visitation will be held for Stanley from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Friday, August 13 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville.
