William "Bill" Charles Thompson's Obituary
William Charles “Bill” Thompson age 68 of Scottville passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at his home. Bill was born on July 19, 1954 in Muskegon, the son of Charles William and Shirley Mae (Feldhak) Thompson and graduated from Mason County Central High School with the class of 1973. He furthered his education by attending Ferris State University for two years before completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Central Michigan University in 1978. He returned home and helped his father operate Schulte & Thompson Clothing Store until it closed and then worked as a Chemical Technician for Dow Chemical in Ludington and Connecticut for several years.
Bill was an accomplished athlete, participating in track and cross country at MCC and Ferris State and held the school record in the 2 mile run. He enjoyed following many sports, especially football and could always be found playing poker with his buddies.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Shirley. He will be greatly missed by his son Kendall of Scottville; his brother Dennis (Wendy) Thompson of Ludington; his nephews Charles (Mattea) Thompson of Grand Rapids, Jason (Bianca) Thompson of Singapore, Josh Thompson of Fort Lewis, WA; and his niece Rachael Hansen of Ludington.
A gathering of friends and family to celebrate the life of Bill Thompson will take place later this summer.
