William Lester Hartley's Obituary
OBITUARY:William L. “Butch” Hartley Jr., aged 65 of Scottville, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. Bill was born on December 8, 1944 in Manistee to William L. and Edith Marguerite (Harrison) Hartley, and graduated from Ludington High School with the class of 1965. On September 14, 1968 he married Connie Bayle at the Scottville United Methodist Church, and they have celebrated 42 years together. Bill worked many years for Farmer’s Petroleum in Scottville, before retiring in 1997 from Stokely’s Cannery. He was a member of the Scottville United Methodist Church and the Scottville Optimist Club, and enjoyed bowling, hunting, and working in his flower garden. His greatest joy came from the company of his family, especially his beloved granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Cory, and his father-in-law Byron Bayle. Bill will be greatly missed by his wife Connie; his children Keith (Diane) Hartley of Scottville, Melinda (Sean) Sutcliffe of Fountain, and Melanie (John) Sayles of Pentwater; his granddaughters Sarah, Mercedy, Marissa, Mandi, and Cameryn; his sisters Loa (John) Thibert and Donna (Wayne) Baade all of Ludington, and Marsha Finholm and her friend John Hurren of Taylor; his mother-in-law Millie Bayle of Scottville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great friends.
