Pat had the memories to share from as far back as when he was just little. When he took the graduates from Best Drug Rehab on tours (where many times I was his side kick) he would share stories of Manistee's History as we rode past many places; he drove very fast scaring some where others loved it, brings me laughter everytime I think about it. Hugs and love to you Rita, Mike, and all loved ones, may your memories carry you through.
For as long as I can remember Hox was always ‘doing!’ In the early seventies, when Reva and Hox lived in Oak Hill, Mel and Hox would work at our house one day and the next time they would work at their house. Hox was always working on cars, houses, dune buggies or whatever! When they moved out to the Lake, he was doing things on their house, for his parents or his kids and their families. Later in life he was doing things for the people/clients at Great Lakes Rehabilitation. No mater what he was doing, he had that Hoxies’ smile and laugh! We will miss you Dear Friend! Pat and I have been good friends for many years, enjoying numerous fine experiences and memories. Pat pulled up into our family driveway in Manistee in his 1946 Hudson Coupe (Pontiac powered) in the fall of 1962 to head north to begin attending Michigan Tech Soo Branch (now Lake Superior State University). Four students resided, slept and studied in small two room units, of Brady Hall. The structure was originally built to house and train military personnel as we prepared to fight WWII. The only furnishings were a double deck steel cot for sleeping. We added a plywood enclosure to hang out the window, into which we placed food items secured in most cases, by whomever worked in the kitchen cafeteria of Brady Hall. Pat was a good contributor. Pat's experience with mechanical things stemmed from his father's business of autobody repair and painting. He had been involved in the construction of one of the first "dune buggies" in the Manistee area. His was a shortened wheel base chassis with the body removed, wheel rims welded together to increase their width, and big balded tires running low pressure to allow support in the sand. We always did everything on a shoestring. Pat was always ready and able to help those who needed it. No doubt a special place has been reserved for him.

Pat was a really great friend and I will always remember that anytime we met up, it was with many laughs. He helped me at Coachcraft when I was restoring my 1976 Lincoln Town Car and taught me a lot about auto body repair and made me do all the sanding on that huge car. He had always had a special wish for me and alas, it never came about. What a great picture you provide of him, I can almost hear his laugh. Rest in peace Pat, you will never be forgotten. My Condolence’s to Pats wife Riva and their family. Pat was a special friend of mine in college at Michigan Tech Soo Branch (Lake Superior State Univ. now) starting in 1962. Our rooms in the Brady Hall dorm were next to each other. Our rooms had 4 people each so we all soon became a group, most of us joining Circle K together. Pat’s roommates, all from Manistee, also joined ROTC. None of them could shine a shoe. So, I, being from the Big City, had to teach them all how to spit shine. I was the only smoker in the group so much effort and tricks went into making me stop. I wish they had worked.
Pat had the only car in their room and Pat Kubesh had the only car in our room. They both liked to drive and took us all most places we needed to go. It was a great freshman year - friends and memories were made that last a lifetime.
During sophomore year we were in rooms of two each with the 2 Pats were together. I was with Mark Day about 5 rooms down the hall. We spent so much time visiting and playing bridge that the rooms were mostly for homework and sleeping. I remember one homework assignment of mine, a short story for English. Pat and Mark had a lot of input and almost deserved co-authorship. We all went different ways after college and I was able to find them again in the mid 1990’s with the help of the Internet.
Pat was always a big help and great friend. He will be greatly missed.
